Happy New Year 2015

A local child at her home on Sapwuafik

The new year has arrived in Micronesia and we look forward to His blessings in 2015. We are happy to have the MAHI team together for the holidays. Our volunteers Chris Doellerer and Danny Chung have returned by ship to Pohnpei from teaching English to the children on the outer island of Sapwuafik.

Over the school break, in addition to participating in the local holiday traditions, we have been preparing for the second half of the school year. Besides tackling the English deficiencies in schools, volunteer Chapman Cochran has also been working on a Physical Education curriculum for the Department of Education. We will introduce this curriculum to 30+ public elementary schools starting January.

We'd like to express our deep appreciation to each of you who have given gifts of support to MAHI International in 2014. Our mission is achieved only with your participation.

Not everyone has the priceless opportunity to learn English, and to learn it well. We are grateful to our volunteers past and present who dedicate months of their lives to serve the people of Micronesia. With good English proficiency comes greater opportunities for the young people of this island to better contribute to their community. We are in great need of additional support to continue our English Program. We invite you to participate in our mission in 2015.

MAHI International volunteers and our friends spread Christmas cheer by sharing fresh, home-baked goods with patients and employees at the hospital.
