Last week, an ophthalmology assessment team from Guam SDA Clinic served on the island state of Chuuk. Headed by Dr. Robert Wresch and supported by Stephanie Wiley, Stephanie Barcinas, and local staff, this team screened patients suffering from such things as diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, and pterygia. During the week of July 21, 2013, an ophthalmology surgery team served in the Pohnpei State Hospital doing surgeries for cataract pterygium patients. This medical mission team was a collaboration between the University of Utah, the Guam SDA Eye Clinic, and MAHI International. Our surgeons and their assisting staff worked 15-hour days to accommodate as many patients as possible!
