Salapwuk Elementary School, 2008
During our last health screening trip to the Salapwuk Elementary School back in January of this year, we talked with the principal and the volunteer Peace Corp worker about the needs of the school. The top 3 needs that was noted included a library, recreational equipment for the students, and a solar electricity unit.
With the generous donations of MAHI International’s supporters and the North Hills Children’s Church, we donated approximately 14 boxes of reading books to assist Salapwuk Elementary with their library development! In addition, MAHI volunteers installed a complete volleyball court for the children’s and the community’s recreational use. Finally, our team distributed dental hygiene packets to the school’s graduating class.
We are still trying to raise approximately $1,600 to complete the solar project. Our goal is to have a system installed for the Salapwuk School by this fall.
